Oldfield Free Church (Baptist)

1st Sudbury Hill Girls' Brigade Company - Formed 1936

The aim of the Girls' Brigade is to help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self-control, reverence, and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life.

All sections operate a Badge Scheme called "SPES" covering Spiritual, Physical, Educational and Service subjects.

There are 3 sections which meet on a Friday evening at the Church:

Captain Mrs Ruth Rego

Explorer Section
5 - 8 year olds. 6.00 - 7.30pm
An evening full of activities, games, craft work and Bible stories. Our badge work is covered as above.

Junior Section
8 - 11 year olds. 6.00- 7.30pm
Again a fun packed evening of games, badge work, bible stories. Their Badge Scheme consists of over 160 subjects.

Senior Section
11 - 14 year olds 6.00 - 7.30pm

Brigader Section
14+ years 6.00 - 7.30pm

The programme is based on a structure around the badge scheme that encourages girls to understand working together and learning subjects that will help them as they grow older. They also enjoy having fun playing games and enjoying each other's company.

The Company as a Whole
All sections wear a uniform and have a period of Christian teaching.

Discipline and the Christian faith help form our basis for fun, fellowship, belonging, friendship and much more.

The Company follows the Brigade and Baptist Church 'Safe to Grow' policies.

We encourage the girls to attend either our Church's Kingfishers or YPF or their own Church on a Sunday.  We do expect all girls to attend our Church Parade (in uniform) on the first Sunday morning of each month, except August, and other times as notified.
