What is the Good News?

What do you need to do to become a Christian?

There are very short answers, shortish answers, and long answers!

The VERY short answer is:

Acts 16:31 “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved"

The shortish answer is:

Acts 16:31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

The next shortish answer is, something we call the ‘Roman Road’ as it is taken from the Letter to the Romans:

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Hebrews 9:22

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9 if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

In short:

A Christian is a person who has placed their faith (trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ, who through His death and shed blood for their sin and rose to life physically from the grave has given eternal life to all who believe.
